Eco Friendly Ideas

Think green, fresh, organic. Planning eco-friendly weddings is the latest trend when it comes to tying the knot. Costa Rica, being a country blessed with immense biodiversity, flora and fauna welcomes any ideas used to conserve its natural beauty.

Planning a Green Wedding can be your contribution to Mother Earth on your big day.

Putting together an Eco-friendly wedding doesn't mean leaving out the glam, sparkle and romance of a traditional wedding, just finding new and chic alternatives to creating the same idea.

  • Send out invitation made of recycled material such as banana or mango paper.

  • When choosing table cloths go for natural materials or maybe even nothing at all! Rustic wooden or delicate glass-toped tables can look great when bare and decorated with other natural accents.

  • For the dinner table centre pieces try using recycled glass like colored wine bottles, unique shaped jars or others and fill them with flowers for a relaxed but chic feel. Accent these centre pieces with organic beeswax candles to inspire more romance and sparkle!.

  • Instead of cutting flowers for a centre piece, use potted flowers such as wild orchids.

  • Instead of paper place cards try using beautiful river stones with your guests' name written on each one.

  • Rent linen napkins instead of having paper napkins during dinner.

  • When thinking of choosing ribbons to decorate your linen dinner napkins, go organic by using natural materials like long wisps of grass, palm tree leaves, ivory to tie the napkin. Finish the look off with a small flower or leaf to add some color.

  • When choosing a menu, go for organically grown ingredients. Local foods and beverages are a great way to go.

  • If your thinking of printing dinner menus for your guests, print only 3 or 4 of them and put them on angles where all the seated guests will be able to read the menu choices instead of printing a menu per guest.

  • As party favors, think of sending your guests off with a planting kit. They are inexpensive and you can add local plant/flower seeds. This way they can take a piece of Costa Rica back home with them as well as a great memory of your special day.

  • If you want to give a "thank you goodie bag" to your guests try using bags made of natural and locally grown fibers. Fill them with organic and local products like coffee bean candles, volcanic mud masks, coconut soap, local snacks and beverages.
